My husband and I were treated to dinner at Akbar's Own a few weeks ago. There were six of us, and we shared a delectable combination of about eight dishes. We are very familiar with Indian cuisine, and this was positively the best Indian meal we have eaten in a restaurant. My mouth waters just thinking about it!

I have now been three times in 2 weeks. My wife and I are so glad our friends introduced us to this gem. We're VERY fussy about food and restaurants and Akbar's is excellent. The fish Marsala, tandoori chicken, nand and the dal was to die for. Real home cooking. The fact that just writing this makes me want to go back should tell you how we feel about their food. The best Indian food I've had so far.

One of the best in Vancouver I've been to Akbar's Own three times in four weeks, 2 dinners, 1 lunch (one of the best deals in town). After my first meal there I realized that it has been long time since my taste buds have been so stimulated. The mix of spice and sweet will leave you wondering why you've been eating such bland food for so long.

Mughlai and Kashmiri dishes from India's mountainous north-western corner. "Eggplant Bharta" is creamy barbecued eggplant with sauteed onions and tomatoes. Fish Curry, Lamb tikka, Tandoori Chicken and the vindaloo are also recommended.Spicing is mild in multitudinous pilaus, biryanis, tikkas, etc, but ingridients are top notch. Try it to belive it.

Kashmiri/Muglai North Indian food. Love the panir pujiah, the lamb green masala, and just about everything we have tried. Their tandoori is pretty good, but not the best thing on their menu. Good service and a calm room.
